The LIFE TTGG project aims to increase the energy and environmental efficiency of the production chain of European PDO hard or semi-hard cheeses, through the development of a software that allows to assess the environmental footprint of products (PEF) and reduce it.
The program is calibrated, validated and tested at a sample of companies of Grana Padano and French Comté cheese (30 dairies and more than 150 stables). Then, the software will be proposed as a solution for the calculation and reduction of the environmental footprint to other European PDO cheese consortia. At a later stage, it will be presented to a wide range of PDO and PGI food products.
ENERSEM is responsible for the activities of energy diagnosis and efficiency of production processes, through the analysis of 30 dairies in Italy, France, Spain and the Netherlands. The aim is to develop the “energy module” of the software, calibrating it with data related to 30.000.000 quintals/year of processed milk..
