Sustainability, Grana Padano with ENERSEM for Made Green in Italy

Assessment and communication of the environmental footprint of traditional Italian food produce (Made Green in Italy) are perfectly in line with LIFE TTGG project, which Consorzio Tutela Grana Padano and other dairy players have joined together with ENERSEM.

If Made in Italy is synonymous with quality and creativity all around the world, Made Green in Italy nowfurther supports the attractiveness of our food produce. The national scheme for the assessment and communication of the produce environmental footprint is based on the Product Environmental Footprint, a methodology developed by the European Commission to promote sustainable models of production and consumption.

Grana Padano and other dairy producers are not only interested and well prepared on this: they are even committed pioneers thanks to the European project LIFE TTGG, with ENERSEM playing as an operational partner for the whole part of the audit and energy analysis, studying the possibilities of improving the efficiency of the production cycle of milk and cheese.

With Made Green in Italy, the Italian Ministry of Environment means to promote the improvement of the environmental performance of “Made in Italy” produce throughout their entire life cycle, ensuring transparency and comparability of environmental “performance”. This certifcate will increasingly enable ware consumers to make even more informed choices. Companies can apply PEF environmental footprint studies, following Product Category Rules (CPR); after fulfilling “threshold” values on the criteria defined in the scheme, they are entitled to affix “Made Green in Italy” label on their products.

With the Consorzio Grana Padano, the most widely consumed DOP cheese in the world, the Consorzio Tutela Provolone Valpadana and the Consorzio di tutela del Pecorino Romano DOP are also at the forefront.
